Mr. Jagat B. Rai

Passed M.A. and LL.B. examinations from North Bengal University. Practised as an advocate since 1988 in both civil and criminal cases in different courts of Sikkim, including the High Court of Sikkim. Also had held the post of Standing Counsel, Forest and Environment Department, Government of Sikkim, prior to joining the Sikkim Superior Judicial Service in the year 2013. Was posted as District & Sessions Judge at Mangan, District & Sessions Judge at Gangtok, District & Sessions Judge, Special Division I & II at Gangtok, Legal Remembrancer-cum-Secretary, Law Department, Government of Sikkim, and had also held the post of Registrar, High Court of Sikkim, and Member Secretary, Sikkim State Legal Services Authority before being transferred to Namchi as District & Sessions Judge, Namchi, Sikkim on 01.12.2024.
